About
When I was in middle school, I wanted to be a Hollywood special effects technician and make stop-motion fighting skeletons and animatronic rodents of unusual size. Contemporary movies, however, have more or less migrated to digital effects, and keyboards appeal to me less than buckets of liquid latex do, so my focus has shifted to experiences and effects in real time.
I am interested in human kinetic and haptic relationships with the environment, whether the scope is that of a building, a room, furniture, clothing, or handheld object.
Experience with theatre introduced me to the value of storytelling and drama; experience with architecture has shown me the restrictions inherent in a scripted approach. I have long been attracted to the physical qualities of materials, and seek to place materiality as a primary design concern. I work in a variety of media.
I still love movies.
